Not all surgical guides require a radiographic template for the CBCT scan. If you choose BlueSkyBio as your planning software, and your patient has minimal metal-based restorations (not intended for edentulous) you can bypass the scan appliance. Capture a CT with the arches separated by cotton rolls, forward the DICOM images, the models and bite registration to the laboratory. I've got a fully edentulous patient that wants hybrid/probably screw retained bridges. I want to do her case fully guided for placement of the implants. I have made a scan appliance with barium sulfate teeth. Now what? I believe she now needs a CBCT scan. Is that correct?
